Lane Carpenter began designing and making bears in 1986. She markets her bears under the company name of "Lane's Lovable Handmade Huggables".

All of her bears are original designs created and handmade by her, and each is signed and dated. Lane is a self-taught artist and her bears are antique style, made from imported mohair that range in size from 2.5 to 16 inches. She also designs and makes miniature bears that are fully jointed and made from either upholstery velvet, ultra-suede or imported mohair.

In addition to her own bears, Mary Meyer Corporation commissioned Lane to design bears for them. Their mohair collection includes "Randall" and "Kendra" (Randall was a 1997 Toby Nominee for Teddy Bear and Friends Magazine.) In August of 1998, Kendra and Randall were featured on the Home Shopping Network.
